ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS AUTHENTIC VICTORIAN PICKLE CASTOR CONDIMENT Wonderful Diamond and Fan Pattern Glass Insert CA. 1870 - 1890 This pickle castor is just breath taking. Lovely authentic victorian silverplate pickle caster set made in the late 1800's and clearly hallmarked on the bottom. This castor set was made by the Meriden Silver Co. out of Meriden, Connecticut. This set has a lovely frame with striking floral patterns on the base and intricate victorian details on the handles as well. The silverplate looks excellent throughout, though we refrain from polishing as many folks prefer the soft patina the metal gets with age. What makes this set so special is that it was prominantly displayed on the front cover of the Silverplate Holloware Catalogue price guide printed in 1972 by the American Historical Catalog Collection. See the attached photographs. The glass insert is very unique and in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or dings of any kind. The set stands at approximately 8.5 inches in height and the glass jar seats perfectly in the base. All original and no marriages. Perfect for the discriminating pickle castor collector or for the table setting that is looking for some victorian flair. This set came out of my Aunt's estate on Nantucket.
