A most delightful example of a Victorian Tunbridgeware ladies work box. The exterior has stood the test of time and is, in my opinion, in excellent condition given the vintage of the item. There are as to be expected one or two slight wear and tear marks which do not detract but add to the character and charm of the box. The interior, which once must have been lined with a cranberry satin fabric still shows this original fabric ruched within the lid to no doubt have served as an area to keep pins etc. The top lift-out shelf and interior has lost the original satin lining and is now lined in an attractive toning Toile type lining paper. The box measures 27.5cms x 18.5cms and stands approx 13.5cms high.
