In this auction you will be bidding on an M164 Snipers Observation Scope, An M42A1 Tripod & Securing Strap, Tripod Case,& Scope Storage / Field Carrying Tube. The Military marking tags have been removed from the scope. Some people would say this is a "Spook Rig", I will tell you that once Upon a time anything with Military Markings/Military Serial Numbers was NOT considered an historic military collectable, but STOLEN MILITARY PROPERITY! That said I will describe each component of this set.: The M164 Scope retains 95% os it's original OD crinkle green finish. This scope was made by BAUSCH & LOMB, at the time one of the top 5 optics makers in the world. The scope with sun shade extended retains 100% of it's blue finish which can not be seen with the sun shade retracted. The optics are crystal clear, magnification is 19.5x. Both the objective and eye piece covers are present and show NO sign of ever being cross threaded, there were at one time two metal tags on the scope, they have been removed as previously mentioned. The M42A1 Tripod retains 90% of it's oriiginal OD crinkle green finish, The 4 leather cushions in the cradle are still supple and when the strap is secured hold the observation firmly in place. The securing strap looks new. The tripod is tight and all adjustment knobs are present and tight, there is some paint chipping
