Vietnam Era US M8A1 Bayonet Scabbard byPWH for M7 ID'd 534 th MP Co. Panama USGI M8A1 Scabbard for the M7 bayonet from the Vietnam Era. The M8A1 scabbard will also fit the M3 knife, and M4, M5, & M6 bayonets. Very nice condition made by the Pennsylvania Working Home for the Blind (PWH). Date of manufacture estimated in the mid-1960s to 1970s. Has a few scuffs and scrapes to the paint, but otherwise very solid. No rust, no tears, no rips, no cracks, no breaks, and no splits. This one is especially interesting as it is ID'd to the 534th Military Police Company, rack number 20. The 534th MP Company was based at Fort Clayton, Panama City, Panama, in the former Canal Zone. As part of the 193rd Infantry Brigade, the 534th was activated on 8 August 1962 by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, largely due to rumors of Soviet assistance to Cuba and the aborted Bay of Pigs Invasion. The 534th served primarily in Panama due to American interests in the canal zone. Due to political instability, the 534th participated in numerous crowd/riot control activities. The 534th was also involved in Operation Just Cause as part of Task Force Semper Fi when President George Bush ordered the protection of American lives and property, and to permit the inauguration of the winners of the previous summer's elections following the murder of a USMC officer
