Kupjack (1912-1991) worked with Mrs. Thorne to produce her collection of 37 American period rooms, which are on permanent display at the Art Institute of Chicago. He also assisted Mrs. Thorne in the completion of the Phoenix Art Museum Collection of Thorne Rooms. His work is saturated with enthusiasm for excellence and his recreations are dominated by a realism heightened by a theatrical use of light and precise detail. Using a scale of one inch to a foot, his constructed rooms used an imaginative combination of materials. His exquisitely furnished rooms that delight visitors of all ages today, still withstand the test of time. View-Master created a 3 Reel set of the Art Institute's THORNE ROOMS, which today is hard to find because of the limited production.
