Up for auction is a 1920-30 Vindex Toys cast iron John Deere Wagon in INCREDIBLE ORIGINAL CONDITION. This toy HAS NOT been re-painted. I purchased this toy from the collection of an elderly gentleman in 1998. He told me that his parents would buy him toys but he was not allowed to play with them. He could only display them, which he said was very difficult as a child. He was born and raised in Illinois. There were approximately 40-50 cast iron toys in all. I only purchased this wagon and a large cast iron motorcycle cop. Many were in their original boxes which were generic with no graphics. I had first shot at them, and looking back, I wish I would have purchased the entire collection, but they weren't cheap. The next person bought them all. The green bed is marked John Deere in gold embossed letters on both sides. Inside the bed on the left side it is stamped Vindex Toys, Belevidere, Ill. It is also stamped 80L on the left, and 80R on the right. The bed measures 7 3/4'' long x 2 1/4'' wide and 1 1/2'' high. The Vindex Toys decal is present and complete on the rear gate. The red frame measures 6 3/4'' from back of the rear wheels to outside front of the front wheels. Each set of wheels measures 3 1/2'' between the two.
