This auction is for a nice vintage folk art hooked rug depicting a center oval design of a rooster and a hen on a nest on a black background bordered in red. T is an orange flower, possibly a poppy in each of the corners. The rooster is an olive green with a blue head and blue outlining, black and yellow eye, off white beak, and a red comb and waddle. The hen is a forest green with gray outlining, yellow and black eye, orange yellow beak, and red comb and waddle. T are light maroon(?) colored flowers above their heads. The leaves on the flowers are a light green, almost blue green color oulined in olive green with brown veins. I believe the fabrics are a combination of woll yarn and rayon and cotton strips. The rug measures about 24 1/2" by 15". It is in nice condition with no stains, rips, or unraveling. T is binding on the back which does need to be sewn down securely. I don't know the age of this rug, but it is not a new piece. This rug would be an awesome addition to the chicken, hooked rug, or even folk art collection.
