Many of our Linens and other items have been in these Families for many years , Centuries some times, and have most likely moved around with that family, or have been handed down to the next generation. What was once Handmade many years ago with love & care in Germany, may have ended up in France or even the US. European Linens from these Families were well cared for, especially the Handmade items. What we receive from France may have been made in Italy, Germany or any other country. Please keep this in mind. Yes, it is even possible for a Family in France to have owned a Quaker Lace cloth. A Beautiful gorgeous Porcelain Blue & White Matelasse Coverlet. 88 x 96 Queen. We can include a Pair of plain white Matelasse shams if you like to have them. They are NOT a match but will compliment the Coverlet beautifully. We do not know the actual age or it's maker please bid accordingly. We do not sell on approval ! If you love the clean, crisp look of Matelasse in your Decor or the blue and white collections here is a vintage Beauty. Matelasse Bedspreads and Coverlets are featured in almost all designer Magazines and are used for beautiful accent pieces or for the rich, clean Bedroom Decor. Decorating possibilities are endless with these timeless Treasures. It was loomed from 100% Cotton. Matelasse originated in France as the word for cushioned or padded and is double-woven for a quilt-like texture. Woven on the loom to create the raised design the Matelasse design will never wash out and only becomes more beautiful and raised after washing. Due to the fact that a Matelasse coverlet is a double weave cloth, it has an extremely high thread count, thus it is very durable and its beauty is long lasting, creating an heirloom quality. Layered under a quilt or comforter, to be used as a lightweight blanket (used primarily this way in Europe) or as a "designer" touch to dressing the bed. It was Unparalleled Luxury in the earlier years and is so again. It would be spectacular on any beautiful bed. This is a Queen Size and measures 88 x 96 it would look so romantic and stunning with a pretty lacy Bed ruffle. one side is white with light blue and the back is a darker blue with a white floral design, so in reality if you wish, you can have two Coverlets in one. There is absolutely no damage anywhere. I was gently used and stored with the utmost care. We have gently laundered the coverlet to remove any and all storage residue, then fluffed in the Dryer to bring back the softness.
