This is a gorgeous vintage 14K solid yellow gold pear shaped sapphire ring. The stone has rare color changing properties. In sunlight the sapphire is a rich blue-violet color and in incandescent or candle light the sapphire's color changes to purple. Known as a "color change" or "photochroic". I've tried to show both colors below. It is a large stone measuring approx. 17 x 12 mm. Sits 10 mm off the finger. It is in very good condition. The top surface of the stone appears to be abrasion free but along one edge, on the underside, t appears to be dullness like a chip may have been professionally buffed out at some time. Prongs are good, stone is secure. It has been resized. Marked 14k.
