For auction - an incredible and distinctive ring dating from the 1940s. Constructed in 14K rose gold decoration, a large 9.2ct color change Alexandrite stone exhibits vivid colors of purple, pink, red and magenta. We're unable to test this gemstone to see if it's a lab-created stone. But to err on the side of caution, we'll assume that it is. The 14k rose gold setting is an masterful design of repeating rope twists in varying thicknesses and sun rays repeated in the stone's prong setting. Even the exterior back portion of the shank is detailed. The ring is a US size 7-7.5. The Alexandrite is 16mm by 12mm by 6mm (approximately 9.2 carats using a mm to carat conversion). Weight is 5.37 grams. There are hallmarks on two separate places on the ring - on the band itself and on the bowl underneath the stone. We went crazy trying to decipher the marks - to no avail. Please let us know if they look familiar to you. Photo #1 is in direct sunlight. Photo #10 is under incandescent light. AUCTION DETAILS Auction - ten (10) days. And always with a low opening bid.
