Vintage 1800 E.S.Johnson & Co, New York, red pen with retractable dip pen and pencil. Signed E.S.Johnson on the box and the number 3 gold nib. I believe it is made of gutta-percha. T is a split running the length of the top section of chased gutta-percha. The bottom section has a split seam for the pen pushing mechanism, though it, too, is split at the end. The end has an ornate pattern--it is not marked as to gold or gold-filled (not unusual in that era). T is also a lead holder filled with leads, but the leads seem too thick for the pencil. 4 inches long, closed, and 5 1/4 inches fully extended, including the nib. The free listing tool.
