The most visually impressive piece I have ever owned.Amazing charcoal large format photograph of Bert Kenney circa 1885. Kenney is shown is perfect clarity donning his Clinton, New York uniform. Bert Kenney actually discovered John McGraw and signed him to the Olean team in the NewYork/Penn League in 1888. The rest is history. Anyway, this comes with the original cherry wood and gold plaster/gilt frame which is in great condition. Photo itself measures 20x16âe and is housed in 24x28 frame. I believe this is still the largest 19 th century baseball player photo to ever surface. It is stunning and I never thought Iâe(tm)d get rid of itâe¦but... Iâe(tm)ve had it for 20 years. You will not be disappointed. Shown in my photos is a scan of a page from Barry Halperâe(tm)s Sothebyâe(tm)s auction (page 179) which shows a McGraw presentation piece. In the lower right corner of that item is the same photograph of Kenney in the form of a regular cabinet photo. The description goes on to talk about the photo and Kenneyâe(tm)s involvement with McGraw. I had this for a long time before I knew who he wasâe¦thanks to that auction catalog. Winner pays $65 UPS shipping for this large item plus insurance which I heavily suggest.
