FOR SALE: 102 year old Lucky Strike tobacco tin by "R.A. PATTERSON, Rich'd. VA". This pre-dates the American Tobacco Co. buy out in 1905. After the sale, the buyers added their name to the side of the can - NOT ON THIS ONE. (I will include a 2pp company history that allows dating by changes in container design and wording). The bottom is a plain, gold tone. Inside is plain, bright tin, with far less than normal staining. Inventory label on bottom does not hide any damage.CONDITION: Approx. 94% original paint and NO DAMAGE. Not even small, normal dents were found. The antique, rich colors are typical of the turn of the last century. I can speculate that the original owner used all the tobacco, cleaned out the inside of the tin, and then used it to store valuables in a dresser drawer. The lack of dents, and minimal handling wear support this theory. I have had this in storage for about 25 years. This week's series of auctions are primarily for a hand selected group of VINTAGE tobacco tins, cigarette tins, cigarette boxes, cigarette papers, cigar items, advertising tins, and general store tins. T are a number of RARE ITEMS, and items in rare to find condition. I am not an expert by any means, but will gladly answer any questions with the item then in hand. I guarantee all my items to be authentic, and accurately described and photographed. read more
