Up for your consideration is a beautiful vintage Beacon camp blanket circa 1930 that was never used and still has the original label intact! The Native American pattern is intricate and a jacquard weave that features teal green, deep purple, salmon pink and off white cotton yarns. This new old stock Beacon blanket is in excellent condition with no tears, rips, stains or fading. The authentic red cotton sateen seam binding is entirely intact and the fuzzy cotton blanket fabric is as good as new! The original paper label attached reads the signature, "Beacon Blankets Make Warm Friends" and features a picture of its manufacturing mill. The label states that this blanket is a Wigwam Blanket and the style (25) and Color (204) are handwritten in ink along with printed dimensions in the right lower hand corner (60"x 80"). The Beacon Manufacturing Company was founded in 1905 in New Bedford, MA and later expanded to Swannanoa, NC in 1925 - at that time they were the largest cotton blanket maker in the country. Few surviving blankets bear a trademark: Much of Beacon's output went to retailers, such as J.C. Penney, who applied private labels, and most blankets marketed as Beacons had paper labels ( like the one attached to ours) that vanished in the wash.
