A BOXED SET of draughtsmans drawing instruments which I believe to be circa 1930 although it could be earlier. Please do not hold me to any of these descriptions because I am not certain. I think the box is mahogany, measuring 8" x 6". It has brass corners on the lid and brass strengtheners on each corner of the box, and a brass razor blade feature in the centre of the lid and matching key escutcheon. Unfortunately no key. The box lid is padded with blue silk bearing the name and crest of Elliott Bros Opticians, 101 St Martins Lane, London. Some of the instruments have surface rust but I have not tried to clean for fear of damaging further. The box has a tray into which are set a number of compasses and dividers. Under the lid there is a lovely 6" ivory ruler and another gadget which may also be ivory with sliding brackets (see picture).Also a box of British Graphite 'Kohinoor' Lead Refills made by L & C Hardtmuth at Vienna at Austria. Unfortunately only one small piece of lead remains. A small blue Gillette blade wrapper and a number of rusty blades which I have left in for authenticity. This item is well used. It is a genuine working tool, owned and used for many years by my architect father who is now aged 102.
