Up for auction today is a super rare 1940 Stella model H920 acoustic guitar. The H920 was made at the very beginning of WWII and has a number of war time features including wooden bridge, painted on binding, pickguard and fret markers and sound hole rosette. This is one of the coolest looking guitars I have seen in a long time. It is all original and has plenty of scratches and dings. It also seems to have an old, stable heal repair, probably due to a strap button. Not bad for a 70 year old guitar that has clearly seen some action. It plays ok down in the first position but as you move up the neck the action gets pretty bad. 1/4" at the 12th fret. If I was going to keep it I would either set it up for slide playing or have the neck set or at least get a new bridge. Right now i just strum cowboy chords on it. It's up to you whether to restore it or keep it as is. I feel it could be a fantastic blues guitar. It would also make an amazing wall hanger but that's a shame to do to a guitar with so much mojo. Please ask questions as the guitar is being sold as-is. There is no case but it will be professionally packed. International bidders are welcome but please contact me first to discuss shipping.
