SINGER #221-1 Portable Electric Sewing Machine Vintage Sewing Machine SN AH812408 (1947)This is a vintage Singer Model 221-1 Portable Electric Sewing Machine , in its original case. It belonged to my mother, who made most of my sister and my clothes during the 50's and 60's. She loved this machine and took great care of it. Both my sister and I learned to sew on this machine, so it has a lot of sentimental value to me. But I no longer sew, my sister is no longer with us and my children and grand children are not interested in sewing, so I have decided to drag it out of the attic and offer it up for sale.I have tested the machine and it works, but could probably use a thorough cleaning.The case is approximately 13 x 8 x 12 inches high and is in relatively good condition. There is some fraying at the bottom corners and on the leather handle (see photos).The machine is about 15 inches wide, with the extension pulled out, 7 1/2 inches deep and 10 inches high. The machine case is in good condition with some small scratches to be expected of a machine that was used frequently and is this old. The pedal is somewhat rusty, but in good working order. It looks like the cord has been replaced recently.The original instruction book is included, as well as 12 bobbins, a can of singer oil, a brush for cleaning the machine, a wooden "dowel" of
