Here for your consideration is a partial mascot for the 1948 DeSoto. The base for the mascot is missing. This piece was found with two other mascots that are pictured in the listing photos. All three mascots were wrapped in newspaper that dated from 1963. They were found in a box in the basement of my good friend who has been placed in a care facility and I will be selling some of his estate over the next few months. He is / was not a car nut so I know he would not have had these re-chromed himself and I do not know if any of them have been redone. The condition on this partial part of the mascot is excellent - there are no chips, hairline cracks or pits in the chrome. There are a few light scratches but they are minimal. A portion of the bolt that holds this part of the mascot to the base is still in the anterior ( front ) hole - the back hole is clear. This piece will have to be machined out of the hole in order to mount the mascot. Knowing this, the opening bid is quite small. If you can use this piece, please bid on it and take it away.
