Vintage Original from many years ago 1953, PULLMAN RAILROAD COMPANY Company Passenger Train Dining Car SYRACUSE CHINA INDIAN RIVER PATTERN OVAL PLATTER. Glaze is intact. No chips / cracks. Excellent condition w/ few utensil marks. Design and logo are very sharp and clear. Base - white. Border - brown and green. Pattern - multi colored w/ orange flowers and green leaves. All Pullman pieces of this pattern are marked PULLMAN logo on Top at 12 o'clock position as this one is. Logo - black. Backstamped as may be seen in pics. 4 and 5: "Syracuse China U.S.A. HH-3 (which represents production March 1953)". This pattern had its start in England in the early 1800's. This was used on Pullman Passenger train dining cars. Measures approx. 7 1/8" x 10 3/8". The Pullman Palace Car Company , founded by George Pullman, manufactured railroad cars in the mid-to-late 19th century through the early decades of the 20th century, during the boom of railroads in the United States. Its workers initially lived in a planned worker community (or "company town") named Pullman. Pullman developed the sleeping cars which carried his name into the 1980s. Pullman did not just read more
