Here is a nice example of the popular 1959 vintage Global GR-711 six transistor radio. I was going to send this into the laboratory here at Sacramento Radio Expo to check it out and polish it up along with cleaning controls, etc., but I put a new battery in it and it plays superbly (battery not included in this sale). So I have left it alone and am selling it AS IS. The cabinet is in very good shape - I could not see any chips or cracks. The grill has slight indentation to it that can be seen in the photographs. There are the typical scuffs from going in and out of the carrying case (included) but overall I would give the cabinet a 9/10. The radio plays strong with stations up and down the dial with good volume and clarity. Normally on these radios with string pulleys for the tuning mechanism I would normally have the laboratory here tighten or restring the pulley mechanisms and then clean volume control with deoxit, but this radio did not go through the normal process as it seems to be fine without it. The leather carrying case is in poor condition as one side has most of the stitching missing. I have been collecting and restoring radios for over 40 years now (over 3000 radios) and feel that it is time to start thinning out the collection.
