Vintage Danelectro Dolphin Head guitar This is a 1950's-1960's Danelectro Dolphin Head guitar, possibly made and sold under 'Silvertone' brand. The guitar has a long rock-and-roll life in hands of many musicians, so it has been modified a few times over. First, the head has seen a set of 6 tuners added, the bridge was equipped with a 12 string 'tailpiece', so the guitar was serving as a 12 string electric guitar for a while. Then the body was stripped and repainted red (for a better stage appeal?). Then the head was turned back into a 6 string Dolphin head and the 6 added tuner holes were skillfully plugged in and the head was repainted. A tunable bridge was added, and the guitar served her owner as a 6 string guitar for a while. The controls and the tone switch are originals and one control knob is also original, the second one is not. Now a good part: the neck of this guitar is absolutely heavenly with perfect frets, great rosewood fretboard and it is as thin and as comfortable as it gets! It is straight, very fast and incredibly pleasant to play. The original lipstick pickup cannot get any better with its tremendous, famous tone .
