Vintage, and very rare Klira Triumphator bass. Dates from the early 1960's. Klira made quality instruments from the late 19th century in a factory next to the original Hofner one in Germany. This has the rare gold sparkle finish, they made red and silver sparkle too. Single pickup version, original flatwound strings. Scale is 77cm, so it's shortish but does not feel so when playing. The fretboard is incredibly slim, 38mm at nut, 42mm at 12th. It has a roundish neck, so it's like playing a very fast broomstick! It has quality written all over it. There is no corrosion on the brightwork, action is superlow without 'clacking'. No fretwear. Attention to detail to the knobs, bridge and neck is superb. The gold sparkle on the front has faded a little, you can see the original effect on the back. The body is covered with two plastic panels, with a binding strip around the edge. In pictures 9&10 you can see where the two panels have come slightly away from the binding on the lower bout. They could be glued and clamped, but I don't fancy doing it. Even so, they are quite secure, not falling off. Sound wise, it's very 60's with the neck pickup and flatwounds, very Paul McCartney. UK postage £15 Western Europe £35 Thanks for looking.
