It is a revolving plastic cylinder - the cylinder moves or rotates - and the black arrow indicator on the base marks the time. The light in the clock works and it appears to keep good time. Needs some proper cleaning as it is 40 years old and I don't want to do any damage to it. This does have a crack in the plastic see picture 6 is about an inch long hard to see it but its there THE CLOCK IS ABOUT 12" TALL AND 6" IN DIAMETER I have only seen 2 come up for auction and both sold for over 200.00 SEE ENLARGED PICTURES AS TO CONDITION
