Measuring about 34" x 48", this is US National Ocean Survey Nautical Chart No. 1229, titled "United States - East Coast - North Carolina - Currituck Beach Light to Wimble Shoals." Sure enough, the North Carolina mainland runs all the way down the left side, with Currituck Sound and Albemarle Sound above the fold, Roanake Island just below the fold, and Pamlico Sound at the bottom. Dividing the three sounds from the Atlantic Ocean are the thin strip of the Outer Banks, running from the northern end of Hatteras Island at the bottom to Bodie Island at the top, including Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk and Corolla. It is dated 1970, and stated to be the 16th Edition. The scale is 1:80,000. It is in generally very good and usable condition, with some light surface and edge wear and creasing, and maybe a mis-fold or two, and it may also have some ink and/or crayon inscriptions on the back, some of which may have bled through, and perhaps also some notations or corrections on the map itself. This came from the collection of an Esso tanker captain, who had the habit of writing at least the chart title and/or number in bold lettering on the back, sometimes also with other notes or reference numbers. It has been stored folded, but will probably be shipped rolled in a tube. International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and read more
