Vintage 1980's Era Wooden Hand Carved "Sea Captain" Wall Hanging Tree Bark Art Statue :Very cool vintage 1980's era wooden hand carved "Sea Captain" wall hanging tree bark art statue. The item is in very good condition for its age. Made completely of what appears to be an actual piece of a tree to which kind I am unsure, it is free of any cracks, chips, broken/missing pieces or major imperfections. Minor flaws are present from & previous use in the form of dirt & staining, some loose pieces of bark which is original to the trees make, as well as some loss to the varnish coating on the top of the piece, but they do not take away from this piece at all. The wall statue is intricately detailed & carved into the shape of a "Sea Captain's" face at the top complete with rain hat, facial features & beard, & scarf wrapped around his neck. As well it has the artist's initials which reads "WB." The bottom portion of the piece retains its original natural bark which has not been modified in any way from its natural shape, & the bottom has been cut & shaped. Lastly, the back side of the piece is flat & free of any detailing, & there is a hole for hanging on the wall. Altogether makes for a great gift for collectors.
