Offered is a 30 pound cast iron platform scale calibration weight. It is marked "R.S.CO." which certainly stands for the Richardson Scale Company. I was unable to find a beginning date for the company, but at some time they were affiliated with the Howe company, which dates back to the 1850's. My best guess is the weight dates to around 1900. The weight measures about 8 by 5 by 4-1/4 inches and weighs 29 pounds, 14.5 ounces on my postal scale. The raised lettering is clean and crisp. It has minor roughness, a few nicks and such from normal use and original casting. There is a small chip on the base edge. I cleaned it pretty well. It is clean, dry and waxed. It has a nice warm patina but is ready for paint if you wish. I've posted lots of pictures so you can look it over. Ships free via USPS Priority in the USA. Quick, too.
