Up for auction is a gorgeous vintage aluminum Christmas tree with the original box. The box reads "Splendor stainless aluminum Christmas Tree w/ curled & twisted needles. Fireproof". This tree was made by R.O. Kent Corp. of New York 1, N.Y. It has 48 aluminum branches, includes the foldable metal tripod stand and 2 silver painted wooden poles. The ends of the branches are aluminum "pom-poms". The box comes complete with the 48 branch paper tube holder. The box has been opened on both ends and retaped several times and does have some storage wear but nothing unsightly as you can see from the photo. The box says it's 6 1/2" feet tall, but it looks more like 6 feet. I had my husband, who is 6 feet tall, stand next to it and it was as tall as him. I might have had the wooden pole too far into the tripod stand. The tree dates to the late 1950's or early 1960's when they were all the rage. I have shown a close up of the tree, you can see the pom pom ends, it really adds to the tree's beauty. Also on one of the closeup photos, you can see that someone in the past has put small pieces of scotch tape on some of the branches, looks like they were taping the ends of the aluminum to the metal wire branches. This tree is in nice condition and needs a new home. The tree & box will be placed in an outer box and mailed by priority or parcel post
