Exact item shown - AC "ACILLOSCOPE" Spark Plug Analyzer. in nice but not pristine condition - I picked this up at an automotive swap meet a very long time ago, and I got a great deal because it didn't work - It had a cracked rectifier tube, which I replaced, and I used it on a few cars, but I haven't used it at all in at least 15 years. Serial number is 50006.There is an article in the Dec 1960 Popular Mechanics here https:///books?id=0tsDAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA184&lpg=PA184&dq=acilloscope+spark&source=bl&ots=imcglCWKl6&sig=KpGCWPxnDEGS3Jlyj9jIKafV2cQ&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj2uMT-urrLAhUEwGMKHUkWDPkQ6AEIOjAD#v=onepage&q=acilloscope%20&f=false that discusses using this tool to see and diagnose ignition issues (see page 184).This unit is an interesting design that gets the high voltage for the CRT from the ignition voltage in the car, and at the same time uses that voltage to make the display on the CRT. It connects to the battery to power the filaments, and the red HV lead connects to the center of the distributor cap so you can see each of the plugs fire, the black HV lead connects to "the most convenient spark plug" (this provides the sweep and synch). On one side it says to depress and release the throttle rapidly and compare the patterns to the ones on the front of the analyzerCheck out my other items !
