This lovely fly trap measures 5" by 4". Color is a amethyst. It was blown in an early automatic bottle machine circa 1930 and is embossed "VC" in a circle. This trap was blown using a unique process in an early automatic bottle machine circa 1930. They have features such as air bubbles, irregular shape and other desirable characteristics usually seen only in earlier, hand crafted glass. T may be some tiny scratches, otherwise perfect condition with no cracks or chips . We are selling out our stock of vintage fly traps. The photo represents the type of trap being sold, but being early blown glass, each is unique. The trap you get may not look exactly like the one in the photo, but it will be the same shape, size, color and emboss (VC.) These traps were closed at the top with a cork, then baited with sugar and water, which was placed in the reservoir below the funnel opening . Flies which enter through the opening at the base are funneled into the trap w they are unable to find their way out or simply gorge until they can no longer fly and drown in the sugar solution.
