For sale is a vintage, antique, old wood dovetail or finger joint advertising shipping crate, box for Hubley Manufacturing Company. Size is 17 1/4 inches long X 14 1/2 inches wide X 10 1/2 inches tall. Front of box says, 'Makers of Iron and Steel Toys Lancaster, Pa.' One side features Hubley's Lindy airplane of the Spirit of St. Louis made famous by Charles Lindbergh's flight across the Atlantic in 1927, along with an address for, 'Strobel Wilkin Co. Inc. 33 East 17th Street New York'. Other side features the Hubley advertisement with their Red Devil Racer No. 5. Back of box has a shipping number in red, '1', along with 'As Per Order'. Light surface wear and some dirt, but all is very readable and well presented on the box; small mouse hole on bottom right corner of box, but very minor. Dovetail joints are tight. Probably from the 1930's. Hubley was a famous manufacturer of cast iron and steel toys; this box could be more rare than the toys themselves! Don't let this one get by you. Perfect for the Hubley collector, cast iron or toy collector, Charles Lindbergh enthusiast! Great display piece. Purchased at a flea market some years ago and am selling off part of my advertising crate collection, selling 'As Is' with minor flaws with age. No Reserve! Will ship UPS Ground and I only accept Paypal. Ships to U.S. Only. No early sales; read more
