EBONIZED ASBESTOS LUMBER ASBESTOS SHINGLE & SHEATHING CO.AMSLER, PA. ANTIQUE AND VINTAGE SAMPLE? Upfor auction is this STRANGE LOT of antique and vintage ASBESTOS SHINGLES AND SHEATHING CO MATERIAL. This block reads, "EBONIZED ASBESTOS LUMBER from Amsler, PA as per photo. I've never heard of Asbestos Lumber. Both of these items up for auction were found next to each other in the basement of the house built in 1890, which will be demo-ed next month.The block in photo 1 measures 5" long x 2-1/2" wide x 1" thick. It has the company stamp on it, which is metal, and raised above the actual material.The block in photo 2 was found right next to the first item. It feels identical to the first item. This second block measures 8-1/4" long x 2-1/4" wide x 13/16" thick. This second item has its own wooden box, but has no markings on it otherwise. The Collector will know what these are, and since I am not an asbestos collector, I will start the bidding out low, and let the collectors determine the value. These pieces are easily older than a half a century. Pleaseask all of your questions prior to auctions end.
