This gorgeous linear cut crystal decanter from Atlantis Crystal of Portugal would make a splendid hostess gift, or present it to the wine lover in your family as a holiday surprise. It's clarity, for which Atlantis is well-recognized, will not disappoint. The sharp, vintage-style linear cuts are separated by a subtle thumbprint pattern and the contrast adds up to a piece with beautiful sparkle and interest. The unusual, flat-topped stopper adds to the vintage look and gives the piece a lovely visual balance. This decanter, unlike most others that are silver-embellished, has a full neck of sterling rather than a half- or quarter-neck. While the piece is hallmarked Atlantis but not sterling, the British silversmiths who manufacture the embellishments for Atlantis - Carr's and Richmond - state that their work for Atlantis is only in sterling. I am relying on their statements to present this as a sterling and crystal piece, but potential buyers must be comfortable with this assurance as well. It has been my experience, when dealing with sterling silver overlay or embellished decanters, that some are marked sterling while others are not. The crystal is in beautiful condition. In close examination I only see a few very fine and small shelfwear lines on the bottom of the base. In close examination of the silver, t only is one small, shallow ding that can be seen only in direct light on the location. The decanter measures 10 1/2 in. height to the top of the stopper. The base is approximately 7 1/4 in. diameter. The weight of the piece is 4.6 lbs. BEFORE BIDDING, PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING : Payment is by PayPal only - no exceptions .
