You are bidding on a vintage silver plated tea/coffee service manufactured in the (my best guess) 1930's by The Barbour S.P.Co. International S. Co. of Hartford, Connecticut. This set is in the Classistic pattern which evokes an Art Deco feeling. The half circle mark found on the bottom of the pieces was first used by Barbour in 1921 but was not officially registered until 1923. The number'5328' also appears on the bottom. The pieces in the set are personalized with the hand engraved monogram 'McC' flanked on either side with a 'B' and an 'S.' Garland decorations on the pieces are all hand chased. The set has been polished. One picture shows the coffee pot unpolished to clearly show how beautiful the monogram is. Hand engraving work like this is truly a lost art. Be assured that the coffee pot is now polished. T are some wear marks in the silver plating which are only noticable upon close inspection and some minor(not deep) scratching on the tray. But, for a set that has survived 75 years or so it looks great to me. I purchased it some 20 years ago at an estate sale and proudly displayed it on my formal dining room buffet. A recent remodel allowed me to pass down my Grandmother's buffet to my daughter leaving this lovely set without a home. If you've read this far, perhaps it should belong to you? T are 5 pieces to this set. A magnificent read more
