This old brass cork borer set has nine borers and one solid pinto push the removed cork or rubber out. All nest together. Each borer is numbered 1 - 9 and is hollow.The punch is a solid tube. Cork borers has apothecary or medical lab uses.A hole is made in a cork or rubber stopper into which a glass tube is inserted. Then the stopper is placed in the vial.The tool can also be used to take samples from trees; howevermy friend points out that these borers are probably not sharpenough. (But, I bet you can take samples of peaches...)I don't see evidence of the manufacturer.The borer was part of my friend's Uncle Jerry's large collection oftools. It took my friend a while to figure out the name of theitem. For me, I was impressed to realize that the vials inmy chemistry class had necessitated this tool. The tool is rusted (ohoh not rusted, tarnished.) Each one is about 4 inches long - withdiffering diameters of course.The tool is aesthetically pleasing and it sure is a conversation piece!
