This rare vintage butterscotch Bakelite large brimmed hat with red bow and ribbon. There is the classic "c" clasp pin on the back and is in very good to excellent condition. It measures almost 3" in diameter. You can see on the back the price tag of $595.00 that my client paid for this piece. Bakelite is an early plastic resin developed by Leo Baekeland in 1907 and was originally used for industry purposes; but made made the jump to costume jewelry in the 20's and had it's hey day in the 30's & 40's.
