This is a Cairns and Brothers Firefighting Helmet. It is covered in black leather with rounded crown composed of multiple leather seams known as combs. Size 7 1/2. On each side of the brim it has holes for the chin straps. Perched on top is a brass eagle that once held the badge in its beak. The eagle sympolized courage of its hero firemen. It has a few scratches on the underneath brim. On the eagle is stamped the Cairns & Brother's symbol. It still has the ring on the back rim for hanging the hat on a hook. I found this in an attic in the l960's of a house in Gravette, Arkansas. It belonged to a family by the name of Corley. His father had lived in Rogers before his death. I am presuming that this belonged to the father since the house was not built until 1947. This hat dates way back further than 1947. It measures 15 x 1 x 9 I accept Pay Pal, check or money order. The hat will not be shipped until payment is made. If a check is received, it will not be shipped until it clears the bank. If you want it insured, send an extra $4.00
