What a beautiful, finely crafted vintage Art Nouveau cameo bracelet this is. Handcrafted filigree panels are probably 800 silver but I can't be sure, as these were made in a variety of metals and grades of silver; this is NOT attracted to a magnet. Those filigree panels alternate with hand-carved genuine carnelian shell cameos with wonderfully romantic, flowy details. Breathtaking. Because they were carved of real shell, the oval cameos, graduated in size, have subtle variations in color and the most beautiful way of filtering light. This measures 7 3/4" long by just over 3/4" in the center. I was lucky enough to have another great vintage cameo bracelet to sell a week or two ago, and this is of the same vintage: As I wrote then, the style is certainly Art Nouveau, and this probably dates to pre-WWI. (Think "Titanic" era, during which well-to-do travellers took the proverbial "Grand Tour," with inevitable stops in Italy and almost equally inevitable purchases of cameo bracelets like these.) This style of bracelet turns up from Victorian times through the 1930s. I am not finding a hallmark on this, which is not unusual since jewelry did not have to be marked until the late 1930s or early 1940s.
