Vintage original lithographed advertising sign for dairy products, in this case, ice cream. This cardboard die-cut sign features Neapolitan Ice Cream being cut and served in slices. This sign may have been used in a diner type restaurant or in a grocer that sold ice cream and dairy products. The sign is probably from the 1940's era. In those days, there weren't all the ice cream flavors we enjoy nowadays. Neapolitan was quite a treat and one of the few options beyond vanilla and chocolate. Ice cream used to be sold primarily in rectangle shaped cartons and served in rectangular slices as opposed to the round cartons and round scoops that are prevalent today. There is a maker's mark on the left bottom edge that says, " Copyright Dairy Products Advertising, Litho'd in the U.S.A. ".The sign is 15 1/4 inches by 10 1/4 inches. The color has faded but it is still clear that we are looking at strawberry, vanilla and chocolate layers of ice cream. The handle of the serving utensil suffered a bend and a light drip spot as shown in the photos. There is a small hole presumably from once mounting the sign with a nail. The back of the sign also shows some scrapes from perhaps mounting the sign with tape or some adhesive.Great nostalgic advertising piece!Ships with USPS First Class.
