Up for bids is a string holder in the style of a charming Dutch girl. She is 7" high and 6" wide. She has all original paint--no touch-ups. The brown bangs on her forehead appear in the photo as if paint has been rubbed off, but that's actually the way the paint technique was applied (air-brush, I think--even in those days). The details of her face (lips, brows, eyes, and eyelashes) and the charming flowers on her cap are all hand painted. I feel it is these details and handwork which make her quite special and a bit different from the usual factory-issue figural string holder. She is also rather heavy, which I believe indicates that she is an older piece (sorry, dear, but age is good in this case). Her face has some paint flakes--no chips--which are to be expected with old chalk, and certainly give her a patina. I think 3 flakes or so are not visible in the picture, as they are on her right. You lucky buyer: She also still has her wire hanging loop--something often not present in these pieces! T is a weird area at the loop, and I don't know if it is chipping, or just something about the way the loop was inserted, because it is clearly something that has been t forever.
