Beautiful vintage Charleston Gullah Sweetgrass Basket.Signed with a cloth label attached to bottom of basket.Handwoven by Albertha Stokes and members of her family.Baskets are sold Monday through Saturday at the cornerof Broad and Meetings Street, Charleston S.C.*(Baskets are made using sweetgrass, rush, palmetto fronds, pine needles)For information on S.C. crafts, write: ALBERTHA STOKES501 Coaxum RoadMt Pleasant, S.C. 29464Basket measures 15 1/4 inches across from handle tip to handle tip, and approximately 4 inches deep.The basket is in excellent shape with no breaks or broken pieces. No stains or smells. The cloth label has some worn spots from shelf wear consistent for a vintage basket.
