LARGE VINTAGE CHARNLEY FOREST STONESTRAIGHT RAZOR / TOOL HONE VERY RARE FIND - **UN-USED** Thank-you for looking at my auction, and good luck in the bidding.Very rare and collectable find, a completely un-used Charnley Forest hone, still showing scoring from the stone-cutting saw used to shape it on most sides, and even on the bevels in places. Also, the original makers ink-stamp on the rear of the stone is still partially legible, you can make out the word 'STONE' and the beginning of the word 'Charnley'. As you can see from the pictures, it's picked up a bit damage over the years, there is a shallow pit in the middle of the stone (only 2mm deep at most), and a flake along the edge at one end of the stone, plus a few very small dings around the edge of the bevel. One of the pictures shows the end of the stone to give a better idea of the shape of the missing part, as you can see, most of the flake is quite shallow across the working face of the stone, it's only as deep as the bevel. When the stone is lapped to remove the pit in the middle the final working face will be nearly full width.
