These 2 vintage-"The Originals of the "Rubbings" are carved on the walls of a temple at Nan-Yu-Kai in Hunan. These carvings are covered with a black mixture and paper is impressed on that so as to take a copy. Tis is art Chinese Art in which the character is somewhat artifically expressed by many deep lines to the forehead and by the thickness of the ears. These represent the first five hundred Buddhist Missionaires to China" These delicate rubbings measure 11' x 6 3/4". Some feathered edges and creases. Great vintage rubbings!! Thanks for looking!!
