After a visit to Ecuador in the early 1980s, my father made this charm or pendant for my mother by drilling a hole in an Ecuadorian Sucre coin from 1928. The front is a profile of Sucre and says "Republica del Ecuador." On the other side, there is a shield with the words "un Sucre ley .720" and some words obscured by the drilled hole. Ecuador no longer uses the Sucre but has adopted the US dollar so buy now to enjoy this bit of Ecuadorian history.
