This listing is for the wonderful early Columbia BK Graphophone pictured. It plays the 2 minute cylinders of that day. The reproducer patent dates are Oct 18, 1892 and March 28, 1905. The decal on the back reads "The graphophone and Columbia Records were awarded the Grand Prize at the Paris Exposition 1900, St. Louis Exposition 1904, and Milan Exposition 1906". The front decal includes many patent dates, the first of which if May 4, 1886 and the last is July 27, 1897. Both decals are in good condition though you can tell that they are obviously original and show some aging. The paper label on the inside of the cover has the number "14164" penciled at the bottom. The undercarriage appears to be in good condition with all parts original as far as I can tell. The cast iron top is signed on teh underside with the number "2320" in raised numbers. The bracket plate holding the gears and motor mechanism is signed in two places; one with the raised number 2200" and in another place the raised number "2". The bracket also has the stamped serial number "1610". When first listed, the piece was missing one of the four rubber feet and a substitute wood foot was put in place and the bottom of the cabinet was pic ture d for prospective buyers to see. I just found the original missing foot and have put it on the case after removing the wood foot. read more
