According to eBay Law, this badge meets the eBay guidelines for historical badges. It does not resemble a modern or current law enforcement badge, insignia or uniform. It is a historical piece that is 75 years old or older or the item is defunct/obsolete or from a now-defunct organization. This badge is defunct and obsolete. This item conveys no authority or law enforcement powers. It is your responsibility as the buyer to ascertain and obey any and all local, state, and federal laws with regard to possession and/or use of any item auctioned. This Cook County Deputy Sheriff - Highway (Sergeant) badge has a lot going on. Nice patina. It definately shows some duty wear. There is a ripple on the 12 o'clock star (see picture) and little bend on the point of the 2:30 positioned star. There is no visible hallmark on the back of the badge, but looks in the same spirit of Meyer & Wenthe Chicago. It measures approximately 2 1/2" from point to point. This badge is from an estate collection, so I am not an expert. I will guarantee it to be authentic and it can be returned for a full refund, providing it is returned in the same condition received. .
