This wonderful crystal cigarette lighter came from a recent estate sale and I was told dated to the 1960's (the entire home was original Eames, Panton era decor). It has no labels or markings to identify the maker, but a bit of research educated me to the fact that it is an ELECTRO MATCH LIGHTER, which I had never come across before. It uses 3 double A batteries and I assume fluid of some kind.It measures approx. 6 5/8" tall to the tip of the wand (as it sits angled), with the base 4 3/8" high x 4 1/4" across widest. The exterior is hand faceted & polished, with the interior silver-toned metal holder removable for battery placement. This interior part fits into a silver-toned liner that seems to be fixed in place.I did try this out with batteries and it makes a nice spark as the wand is pulled out, but I have no idea what type of fluid this needs, or w it would be placed. The bottom does have an opening, although I see no reservoir or covering to keep the fluid enclosed. T is also tape over one side of the internal chamber, but again, no clue why. This looks to be in very nice condition, with just a few minor scuff marks on the wand handle, plus a bit of scuffing to the bottom point of the crystal read more
