VINTAGE "CRYSTOLA" CRYSTAL RADIO SET MOUNTED IN SMALL WOODEN CABINETThis is a very old little commercially made crystal radio, date of manufacture unknown. The little radio was probably sold as a children's toy.The radio comes in two parts, one a removable radio chassis made from cardboard , the ot her a small wooden cabinet. The cabinet has shallow lines cut into it's surface made to look like little doors. Rear of the cabinet has four holes for routing the wiring for the Antenna, Ground and Headphones.The radio works. Station selection is made by sliding a metal clip over the antenna coil. Sensitivity and signal strength controlled by the movement of cat's whisker across surface of germanium crystal cell. Selectivity very wide, multiple high powered radio stations come in together all at the same time.The cardboard radio chassis measures 6 x 3 x 2 inches. The wooden legged cabinet measures 7 x 3 3/4 inches and is 5 3/4 inches tall. Radio with cabinet weighs 14 1/2 ounces.
