TWO VINTAGE FINE CUT STEEL BUCKLES ca. 1900 VINTAGE CUT STEEL or MARCASITE BUCKLES A very long fancy buckle completely made of cut steels individually riveted to a brass back. This is clearly shown in one of our photographs below. Two brass bars to attach the buckle to a ribbon belt. Marcasite is a pyrite and that term is often used to describe what are actually "cut steels". This slide buckle is in fine condition with minor corrosion as is typical in cut steels The color of the steels is silver without the blue of our photographs. Length is 4 and 3/8" by 2 and 1/8 inches wide. It is perhaps from the Victorian period. The miniature buckle is made of decorative cast brass with six cut steels riveted through the brass. It is charming and could be used for a doll's belt, there are two prongs attached to the back bar. Size is 7/8 inch in diameter. ORIGINAL ANTIQUE BUCKLES These are not a reproductions.
