For Your Consideration at Auction: a vintage 19 1/2" overall length sai or dagger (also known as a Chabang or Tjabang) - Japanese fighting tool - having three prongs - a 13 1/2" length center shaft prong and two curving outward from the hilt (lower area). The two side prongs measure 6" across tool from point to point x apprx. 3" in length not including the curved area. The wrapped rope/thick cord handle measures 5" in length. There is a faint logo on both sides which we are not familiar with - appears to be 8 sided (octagon) - broken lined logo - perhaps a sun in center?? We discovered this logo after picture taking - we cleaned the logo area lightly and have added two additional pictures - one of each side - of the logo. Steel appears to have had black paint or a finish at one time - and having some rust & pitting now - most likely cleanable. We have no idea of its age - if it is old or a reproduction - found in a barn at an estate sale. This type of fighting implement originated in Okinawa and sometimes used in pairs in martial arts.
