Here we have a Vintage R. H. DAVIS (H. DISSTON & Sons) Steel-Back 14" Tenon Back Saw 12 TPI . The steel Back is stamped: R. H. DAVIS CAST STEEL U.S.A. Like many of America's larger saw makers who were trying to expand their sales, Disston began marketing another back saw model or 'line' of saws and this was marked R. H. Davis.This is a 14" Steel-Back Back Saw primarily designed for cutting Tenons but it could be used for Dovetails as well. This saw is in good condition except for some loss of finish on the handle and light pitting on the steel back. The blade surface has some light corrosion as well. The blade is in very good condition with no broken or missing teeth. The blade is sharp but should be sharpened for the best performance. The blade is straight with no kinks. The closed Beech wood handle is tight on the blade. The blade is held with three brass saw nuts. The handle is in Good used condition. No cracks, breaks or repairs to the handle. The horns are full length with some flea-bite nicks and dings. The handle finish is the original 'used patina' with only minor loss of finish, typical stains, scratches and/or nicks. There is no etching visible on the blade. This saw appears to be a 12 tpi model. Overall saw length is 19". There are no owner's marks."Apologies": none.** Please remember to leave Feedback .
